Glorious Epic Wet is a stormy choreographic work by Sofia Mavragani that reimagines heroism in a time of instability. Expanding from a duet into a group constellation, it dissolves the singular hero into a shifting collective body. It asks who carries collapse as dominant power narratives erode, replacing sovereignty with fragile plurality that negotiates survival together. Water—material and metaphor—shapes the terrain, sustaining and threatening, connecting and destabilising, altering balance, rhythm, and resistance. Bodies slip, support, collide, and reorganise, recalibrating between solidity and exposure. Collectivity emerges not as harmony but as adaptation under pressure, oscillating between cohesion and fracture. The work proposes a different epic written by many bodies navigating instability, with interdependence, endurance, and fleeting solidarities.
Sofia Mavragani is a choreographer and co-founder of the artists’ network Fingersix. She graduated from ArtEZ (Arnhem) and the Athens University of Economics and Business. Her works, such as Glorious Epic (2024), Chorus (2023), and Speechless (2018), have been presented at festivals and venues worldwide, including the Athens–Epidaurus Festival, Documenta 14, FIBA Buenos Aires, and within the Aerowaves network (2019). She also develops projects in improvisation and composition that bring together artists from different disciplines and take place across Europe, Latin America, Africa, and Oceania.
